  • Step 1 – Selecting the tank

    Choose a tank with a dark background or a cabinet as it will help in highlighting the bright colors of your fake plants.

  • Step 2 – Selecting the plants

    Just like natural aquatic plants, fake aquatic plants also come in a variety of shapes, colors, and textures. Make sure you select good quality ones.

  • Step 3 – Preparing the plants

    Your plants are usually good to be placed directly when you get them from the pet store. However, wash them well in water before you place them in the tank. Make sure you do not use any cleaning solution that will harm your fishes.

  • Step 4 – Adding Gravel

    Spread a dark colored gravel in your tank. Size and the quality of the gravel do not matter

  • Step 5 – Hardscape

    Place the rocks and drift wood appropriately and this placement would give the hardscape the natural texture. Make sure you follow the golden ratio rule.

  • Step 6 – Placement of background plants

    Place the maxi sized or tall plants towards the back. These plants are usually weighted than the natural plants and are sufficient if it is just placed on the gravel.
