How to install a canister filter?
Canister filters are one of the best options available for aquarists. However, the difficulty lies in assembling and setting up the canister filter. This article makes that most difficult process easy and takes you through a step by step process of how to install a canister filter.

Step 1 – Select the canister filter
Select a good quality canister filter that you can afford at this point in time. There are plenty available in the market but keep in mind the demands and size of the tank before you select one.
Step 2 – Ensure every part is available
Unpack the filter from the packaging box and check if all the parts are available. Have it cross-checked with the brochure for any missing parts
Step 3 – Dust the filter parts
Now read the manual to know the important details, dos and don’ts. Start preparing the filter by cleaning with a dry cloth.
Step 4 – Placement
Now that the filter is prepared for assembly, make sure you identify the place where to place the filter.
Step 5 – Test fit
Now test fit the hoses for the length and also check if they can fit properly or else it will causes problems like drooping, kink, sharp bend, cuts off, or reduces water flow.
Step 6 – Filter media
Start filling the canister with mechanical, biological, and chemical media filters. It is not mandatory to use the media which comes with the filter you can pick the choose your favorite filter media.
Step 7 – Inline and Outline
Once the media is added ensure the canister filter is locked tightly and then connect the inline and outline tubes.
Step 8 – Priming
After this, you need to prime the filter. Priming is nothing but filling your filter with water initially. Somme canister filter comes with a button for priming.
Step 9 – Switch on
Now switch on the filter and allow it to start functioning. At times air gets caught up in the filter and causes problems and to rectify this problem you can switch off the filter for 30 seconds and switch it on again to solve the problem.
Final the filter is running, you will see clear flow of water into your aquarium. Depending on the load of the aquarium make sure your canister filter is cleaned on a regular basis
